Dr. Sarah Anderson is a high school special education strategist and an instructor at the University of North Dakota (UND), teaching courses in school health, collaborative relationships, and teaching methods. She researches the areas of transition planning, inclusive methods, and special needs programming. Sarah also serves on a state advisory board and does educational consulting.
Sarah worked as a special education strategist from 2004 to 2011, coordinating Individual Education Programs for students with learning disabilities in reading, writing and math and for students with emotional and behavioral disorders. Sarah earned her Ph.D. in 2010 from UND. Her dissertation focused on ecological factors that impact social skill acquisition for students with emotional and behavioral disorders and included a comparative analysis of data from sister cities in the Midwestern United States and Southern Norway. Sarah, her husband Scott, and their children Kayla (10), Axel (5), and Jesper (1) reside in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
Sarah will lead English embedded workshops for students around the theme of “My America”, experiences in life, history, and education from Sarah’s point of reference in the vast country that is the United States. She has also planned workshops for teachers.
