Roving Scholars Available to Visit Your School

The Fulbright Roving Scholar Program brings American teachers to Norway who travel all over the country giving presentations for teachers and students in lower and upper secondary schools free of charge. These presentations address a variety of topics including the U.S. government, immigration, specific teaching strategies, and the American teenage experience. Three Roving Scholars are available to visit your school during the 2009-2010 school year.

Wendy Glenn is the 2009-10 Roving Scholar for the lower secondary schools (ungdomsskolen). She is an Associate Professor in the Neag School of Education at the University of Connecticut. As coordinator of English Education, she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in the theories and methods of teaching literature, writing, and language. While in Norway, Glenn plans to offer lessons that will give students a more complex understanding of Americans and American culture.  Click here for more information about what Glenn has to offer and how to get in touch with her.

Jeremy Jimenez is a 2009-10 Roving Scholar for the upper secondary schools (videregåendeskolen), though he will also be available for some workshops in the lower secondary schools (ungdomsskolen). He has taught numerous courses on contemporary issues in the United States, and has developed curriculum units for several educational organizations. As a Roving Scholar, Jimenez’s work will focus on using role-playing simulations to analyze how different groups in the US interpret the concept of fairness. Lee Ann Potter is a 2009-10 Roving Scholar for the upper secondary schools (vidergåendeskolen).  She is the Director of Education and Volunteer Programs at the National Archives in Washington, DC.
