Fulbright Grants for US Scholars to Norway

The traditional Fulbright Scholar Program sends 800 U.S. faculty and professionals abroad each year. Grantees lecture and conduct research in a wide variety of academic and professional fields.

The Fulbright Program is sponsored by the United States Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Under a cooperative agreement with the Bureau, the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) assists in the administration of the Fulbright Scholar Program for faculty and professionals.

The Fulbright Program in Norway

Each year, The U.S.-Norway Fulbright Foundation offers eight to ten awards for lecturing, lecturing/research, or research for US scholars coming to Norway. Approx. four of these are in the  category, the others are formulated by Norwegian academic institutions in close cooperation with the Foundation.

The awards allow candidates to propose their own lecturing or research projects and institutional affiliations. means just that-applications in any discipline will be considered. Please note that applicants for the All Disciplines awards should include a letter of invitation from their Norwegian host institution in their application.

A letter of invitation is usually not required when applying for the specified awards.

Application deadline is always August 1 for the following academic year.
