Fulbright Orientation

Oslo, late August.

The orientation meetings will take place in Oslo. All grantees currently in Norway are welcome to attend.

Fulbright Grantee Seminar/Ski Weekend

Oslo, mid-February.

The Grantee Seminar is held in Oslo when each grantee will present his/her project. Following the Seminar, we spend a weekend at a ski resort near Lillehammer. All grantees currently in Norway are welcome to attend. All expenses are paid, accompanying dependents included.

ADDITIONAL EVENTS – Participants Selected by Lottery:

A sign up sheet will be distributed at the orientation meeting and e-mailed to grantees not in attendance. Names will be drawn from “the hat.” Please sign up for events in the order of preference. Only one event will be drawn for each person (i.e. if you’ve signed up for both Nobel and Berlin, and your name is drawn for Nobel, your name will not be considered for Berlin). We ask that you only sign up for the events you really want to attend.

Berlin Seminar

Up to 4 participants funded by the Fulbright Office (students only).

Also possible for self-paying participants to attend (students and researchers). Musicians: Musicians can apply to perform at a concert during the seminar, and the German Fulbright Commission will fund seminar participation for those selected.

”The German Fulbright Commission arranges an annual, mid-year Seminar enabling grantees to get together, share experiences, and discuss the achievements and problems of the past semester. The Seminar also gives grantees the chance to experience Berlin. A variety of events, lectures, and discussions will focus on political, economic, and cultural topics. A special concert performed by Fulbright musicians marks another highlight. And finally, a reception will bring you together with people from Berlin’s academic, political, economic and cultural scenes.”

Brussels, Belgium.

One participant funded by the Fulbright Office (students only).

”Our program will begin in Luxembourg (the Court of Justice of the European Community and the Court of Auditors of the European Commission). In Brussels, we will begin with a full day of briefings at the European Commission, and also include the Council of Ministers and the European Parliament.  In Mons, we will visit SHAPE (Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe). In Brugge, we will visit the College of Europe, a post-graduate institution offering degrees in European Affairs.”
